A Small Room, Closed Off Tight
Tearing out tile is one of the dustiest jobs in remodeling, and a bathroom usually opens onto a hallway or a bedroom. We cover the floor from the entry to the bath, seal the doorway with plastic and clean up at the end of each day.
Inside, a lot of trades share a few square feet: waterproofing, drain lines, wiring, the vent fan, tile and carpentry. If old leaks or a soft subfloor turn up when the floor comes out, the fix is written up and priced for your signature before anyone starts on it.
Inside a Bathroom Remodel
-
Shower and tub work
Walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions or new tub surrounds, with a waterproofing layer behind the tile to keep the wall framing dry.
-
Tile
Floor and wall tile, shower niches and built-in benches, laid on a flat, stable base so grout lines stay even and tiles stay tight.
-
Vanity, toilet and fixtures
Vanities, tops, faucets, toilets, mirrors and lighting, along with the supply, drain and wiring changes to put them where you want them.
-
A fan that vents outside
An exhaust fan sized for the room and ducted to the exterior, so shower steam does not settle into fresh paint and caulk.
Decide Before Tear-Out
-
Your only full bath?
If so, we plan the order of work to keep a toilet usable as long as possible and tell you ahead of time which days you will need to shower elsewhere.
-
Same layout or new
Keeping the toilet, shower and drains where they sit is the budget-friendly choice. Relocating any of them involves cutting into the floor and rerouting lines, and the estimate shows it.
-
Selections that take time
Special-order tile, shower glass and some vanities have long lead times. Choosing them before tear-out means the bathroom is not left stripped while a shipment is on its way.
Bathroom Remodel FAQs
How long will we be without the bathroom?
Typically a few weeks of work after the tile, fixtures and vanity have arrived. Moved drains, custom glass and special-order tile can stretch it, and the written schedule shows those dates in advance.
Can a tub be swapped for a walk-in shower?
Most of the time. Expect the drain to be moved or enlarged and new waterproofing on the floor and walls, both listed on your estimate.
